Cheating Husband Begged Me Back
Chapter 1
My husband gave our baby to his lover as her experiment subject.
When I was pregnant for eight months, I fell off the second floor as the banister was broken.
After I woke up, my husband Antonio was slapping his face, his eyes red with regret. He was sorry for not taking good care of me.
Antonio also actively sought for doctors to treat my paralysis.
He showed great concern for me. But one day, I overheard his conversation with my doctor.
"Mr. Kaufman, you got your wife paralyzed just because Ms. Weber needs a woman who's eight months pregnant for her experiment?
"Now the medicine has damaged your wife's uterus. Her baby will be dead soon. She'll go crazy if she finds out about the truth!"
Antonio replied with disdain, "So what? Grace Parrish loves me so much. She won't hurt me anyway.
"As long as the experiment works, Jessie will be able to publish her thesis and get an award. Her career will be brought to a higher level. I won't mind sacrificing Grace and the baby."
Antonio acted like he loved me deeply, just to use me.
For him, my baby and I meant nothing.
In this case, it was time for me to leave.
I sat in the wheelchair stiffly. Their conversation was still on.
"Mr. Kaufman, back then, your wife donated her kidney to save you from kidney failure. Now you're being so ruthless to her..."
Before the doctor finished his words, Antonio said in a low voice, "She did save my life.
"But you said I'd get a new kidney if I just waited. She didn't have to rush to give me hers."
He seemed to realize what he said wasn't appropriate.
A while later, he said, "Besides, I've been buying her supplements and giving her everything she wants. I don't have to do all this, you know?"
The doctor heaved a sigh and said, "But Ms. Weber also said it'd be risky without the signed experiment consent letter!
"If your wife can no longer conceive after giving birth to a dead baby, how can she live with that?"
Antonio snorted, "Enough. It's time to give her an injection. Don't hold Jessie's experiment up.
"And no more speaking for Grace's sake. She's merely an orphan. It's lucky enough for her to live a well-off life with me."
I was so disappointed that I forgot to leave.
It turned out that the banister was broken deliberately.
Antonio risked my and our baby's safety for Jessie's experiment just because she needed an eight-month pregnant woman.
Back then, Antonio was looking forward to the baby's arrival and even prepared a baby's room in advance.
So he had just been acting all along.
The nurse suddenly said, "Mrs. Kaufman, do you need help with the wheelchair?"
The ward door was pushed open abruptly.
A hint of nervousness flashed across Antonio's face as he saw me.
"Grace, when did you come back?"
I refrained from crying and forced a smile. "The weather is nice today. I just took a walk outside."
He let out a breath of relief and winked at the doctor.
Antonio carried me onto the bed gently and poured a glass of water for me.
"Grace, rest assured. I promise you'll be fine.
"Doctor, please give her the injection."
He acted like an affectionate husband, and I felt a chill down my spine.
As the doctor was about to insert the needle into my arm, my body shivered. I asked tentatively, "Antonio, how about I take the treatment after our baby is born?
"I'm afraid the medication may harm the baby..."
Antonio had named our baby and even hired a nanny.
I tried to arouse his paternal love, hoping he'd let our baby live.
But Antonio looked stern and fixed my body hard. "This medicine is also applicable to pregnant women. No worries. The baby won't be harmed.
"Your health is the most important to me. Get the treatment. When you're better, I'll take you to the spa."
Antonio only relaxed after he saw me get the injection. I didn't have a chance to struggle.
"Grace, you can't act at will anymore.
"You and the baby are very important to me. Both of you gotta be well."
I looked at him and caressed my belly. "Can our baby really be well?"
Antonio stayed silent for a few seconds and said, "The doctor said the baby had better stay in your belly for ten months. It'll be fine!"
He was still lying even when faced with my questions.
I shut my eyes to hold back the tears. At that moment, I could feel the smell of blood as I breathed.
"Antonio, I'm a bit sleepy."
He hastened to light up the scented candle and tuck me in before lying in bed. "Grace, go to sleep. I'm here with you."
I sent a text when he fell asleep, "Dexter, I wanna go home."
Chapter 2
I moved my body with difficulty and reached for Antonio's phone on the bedside table.
He always silenced his phone in order not to disturb my sleep.
Once, his shareholders complained about him not focusing enough on the work. Even his work was delayed.
He said with a cold face, "In my heart, work can't compare with Grace at all."
Absurdly, I turned on his phone only to find that he had muted my notification.
Jessie's contact information was placed at the top.
For years, people all said that he was in deep love with his wife and that I didn't deserve his love.
But in fact, Antonio didn't love me at all.
I watched their chat history in pain.
Every time he told me he'd go abroad for work, he was actually comforting Jessie, who was upset about her experiment.
They went skydiving and took a hot spring bath together.
In their photos, Jessie looked at the camera while Antonio fixed his eyes on her.
While I was having an examination alone, Antonio was cooking for Jessie.
The first time he'd do after coming home was to send a message to Jessie, "I love you."
Then, he'd feign affection and hold me in his arms, confessing how much he missed me while he was out.
I fell for his lies and didn't want to wake up.
I even ignored the fact that he had never brought me a gift, even though he claimed that he missed me.
Jessie's latest message said that her experiment result wasn't going well.
The medicine didn't work well, so she hoped my paralysis could be more serious.
Antonio agreed.
Their conversation just made my hair curl and my hand sweat.
Unknowingly, tears streamed down my cheeks.
Every time I took the experimental drug, Antonio would congratulate Jessie.
Then, he'd buy something from the auction to congratulate her on making progress on her experiment.
But what did he give me?
The flowers were deserted by Jessie, the high heels were loathed by her, and the freebie that went with the pricey jewelry Antonio bought for her.
It turned out that I only deserved some trash in Antonio's mind.
This was his love for me.
It was merely his trap woven with insincerity.
I swallowed down the blood and felt gradually disheartened.
The next day, Antonio took me home instead of forcing me to stay in the hospital.
"Grace, it's depressing in the hospital. You won't feel happy if you stay there for too long.
"I've hired a medical expert to treat you at home."
I was full of confusion.
Then, I took a tumble as I saw Jessie smiling on the sofa.
She wanted to join the experiment on her own instead of waiting in the lab.
As expected, Antonio showed concern for me actually to help Jessie with her experiment.
His concern for me was merely an illusion to brush me off.
"Grace, you look like you don't wanna see me, don't you?"
Jessie leaned toward Antonio and pursed her lips.
Antonio had never yelled at me before, but this time, his face darkened. He said coldly, "Grace, where are your manners?
"Jessie, especially, come here for you. Don't go too far!"
How could I compare with his actual love?
I replied through gnashed teeth, "It's my bad. Of course, I'm happy that Jessie is here."
Antonio's anger finally subsided.
He caressed my hair with a smile as if treating a pet.
"Be good. You must cooperate with Jessie on the treatment so that you can get well soon."
But how could I possibly get well with them around me?
Chapter 3
Antonio then told me, "Jessie's afraid of the dark. The guest room gets no sunlight all day. I'll have her stay in your bedroom for the time being."
I just nodded dully.
After I got pregnant, Antonio said he didn't want to disturb my sleep, so he decorated a soundproof bedroom for my unborn baby and me.
Now, he actually made me give up my bedroom.
Before I even agreed, he'd filled the room with Jessie's stuff.
The baby's crib, toys, and my bed were all thrown out.
It was just a bedroom. Anyway, my life was under Jessie's control.
Jessie looked at me proudly.
She hugged Antonio's arm, shook it, and said sweetly, "Is that okay? I just got here, and I'm taking Grace and the baby's room.
"I can make do with it. It's okay if the room is dark, but I don't want to make Grace mad."
Antonio soothed her softly, "Grace won't mind it. Besides, this is my house, so I have the final say."
Jessie pursed her red lips and leaned her head lovingly on his shoulder as she said, "Antonio, you're always so thoughtful."
I watched them being affectionate. It really hurt. I wheeled myself towards the guest room.
Antonio then remembered I was there and nervously explained, "Jessie is younger than you. She grew up with me. She's like a sister. You should be more understanding."
What he said sounded like a joke.
Jessie had paralyzed me and killed the fetus in my body.
Yet Antonio actually expected me to be nice to the culprit.
Did I have no pride in Antonio's eyes?
Jessie moved closer to me and pretended to help push my wheelchair. "Grace, let me help you."
I was startled and subconsciously reached out.
But she let out a cry and fell to the ground.
Antonio kicked my wheelchair over and anxiously held Jessie in his arms.
"Grace, you've gone too far!"
Then Antonio said to the servants, "Don't help her. Let her get up by herself."
He picked up Jessie and left while my body was pinned under the wheelchair, and I couldn't move.
After receiving Antonio's order, the servants didn't offer me any help. Instead, they just stood by and watched me struggling.
And they even mocked me. "I really don't know why Mr. Kaufman married her. Ms. Weber is a better match for him. How dare a disabled person not leave?"
"She thinks she is somebody just because she's got a brat in her belly. How dare she hurt Ms. Weber. I bet Mr. Kaufman wants to get rid of her!"
"Look at her like a turtle flipped on its back!"
Shame and anger flushed my face, yet I could only lower my head feebly.
Early the next morning, Jessie barged into my room without knocking.
She looked down on me with contempt in her eyes.
Yet she said, "Grace, it's a sunny day. I'll push you to the greenhouse for a stroll.
"You can't always lie on the bed. It's good to get some sun."
She kept saying she cared about me, but she was likely the one who wished my leg injury would get even worse!
After all, the worse my injury, the more valid her drug experiments would be.
She didn't even give me a chance to say no. She just lifted my weak body into a wheelchair.
After she pushed me into the greenhouse, she put me in my wheelchair in a remote, tucked-away corner.
The flowers blocked my view, and I could only glimpse the outside world through the leaves.
Later, Antonio walked into the greenhouse, and Jessie hugged him.
"Antonio, you've done so much for me. I'm so touched.
"I got flower petal juice on me. Can you help me wipe it off?"
Then Jessie took off her silk nightgown and put Antonio's hand on her fair chest.
Chapter 4
Lust filled Antonio's eyes, and his Adam's apple bobbed.
He took a deep breath and said, "Jessie, you're fully focused on drug research, and I don't want marriage to hold you back.
"But I love you, and I'm willing to sacrifice anything for you!"
I clamped my hand tightly over my mouth to stop my sobs.
What had he sacrificed?
He sacrificed my health and my baby's life!
Antonio was simply inhuman.
Jessie pressed her lips to his. "Antonio, I can never repay your kindness to me. I just hope you will like this."
Jessie seduced Antonio, and they had sex. There were sounds of heavy breathing, and my palms were bloodied from my nails digging in.
After a while, Jessie, her neck covered in hickeys, wheeled me back to the bedroom.
She looked at me scornfully. "Grace, I didn't mean to upset you.
"I just want to make it clear that I'm good enough only for Antonio. You're just a fool who can't even have a child!
"I don't need pregnant women for my experiment. I hate you. I don't want the child you're carrying to call Antonio 'Dad.'"
Because of her evil thoughts, my baby and I suffered so much.
I was breathing rapidly. Since I became paralyzed, I often had incontinence issues. Now, with my bladder squeezed because of the pregnancy, I really needed to pee.
My face flushed, and I tried to wheel to the bathroom, but Jessie held me down.
"Where do you think you're going? Didn't you hear me? You must hate me so much now, but what can you do?
"I'm going to a cocktail party with Antonio later. And you, bitch, just stay here!"
She slapped my face smugly, only to see that I had wet myself.
"You peed! How disgusting!"
Antonio rushed in, hugged her, and asked worriedly what happened.
She sobbed and said, "I was going to give Grace an injection and a massage. I mentioned I would go to the party with you tonight. She deliberately peed on my hand..."
She looked so pitiful, and of course, it made Antonio feel sorry for her.
He angrily grabbed my hair and dragged me to the fountain in the yard.
"Deliberately disgusting, Jessie. You need to be taught a lesson!
"Grace, wash the filth off your body!
"You can't even stand up, yet you're jealous that Jessie can go out with me. Pulling this trick to bully others, your unborn baby will turn out no good!"
My baby?
He had already killed the baby in my womb!
Just because Jessie wanted to keep me as a lab subject, they didn't remove the fetus from me!
My eyes reddened with rage. "Antonio, what did my baby and I do wrong?"
He was stunned for a few seconds, and a flicker of guilt crossed his eyes.
Then he threw me into the fountain and pushed my head down hard.
"If you won't admit your mistake and won't repent, stay there till you're ready to apologize!"
I struggled desperately, but it didn't win me any sympathy.
My face turned blue, but he picked up Jessie and headed to the party.
As for me, when I saw the blood gushing out from between my legs, I almost fainted.
Didn't they say the baby died in my womb?
But suddenly, I seemed to feel the fetus's heartbeat...
I cried out for help, my voice full of pain, but under Jessie's orders, no one dared to save me.
Blood and tears streamed from my eyes. Suddenly, a warm embrace encircled me.
"Ms. Parrish, sorry we're too late!"
During the party, Antonio suddenly remembered I was still being punished in the fountain.
"Chaz, tell Reese to take Mrs. Kaufman back to her room.
"Warn her not to hurt Jessie again!"
But soon, Chaz Deleon, Antonio's secretary, rushed back, panicked.
"Mr. Kaufman, the fountain water is red with blood... But there's no sign of Mrs. Kaufman."
